Using Your Exodus Wallet 12-Word Recovery Phrase

Your Exodus wallet's 12-word recovery phrase, also known as a "seed phrase", is crucial for maintaining access to your funds. It serves as a backup in case you forget your password or need to restore your wallet on a different device. Here's how to use it:

To Restore an Existing Wallet:

  1. Install the Exodus wallet on your device following steps 1 and 2 previously outlined.

  2. During setup, select "Restore from Backup" instead of creating a new wallet.

  3. Enter your 12-word recovery phrase exactly as it was given, in the correct order. Ensure there are no typos or misspellings.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the restoration process.

Important Tips:

  • Security: Keep your recovery phrase secure and private. Do not share it with anyone. Consider storing it in a secure location like a safe or a secure password manager.

  • Verification: Upon creating your wallet, it's recommended to verify your recovery phrase by using it to restore your wallet on another device. This ensures you've recorded it correctly.

  • Loss Prevention: Losing your recovery phrase can result in the permanent loss of your cryptocurrency assets. Make sure to have multiple secure backups.
